General Information

Water, Sewer, and Trash services are provided by the City for a monthly fee. Payment is due by the end of the month following when services were provided.  For example, December services are billed near January 10 and payment is due by January 31. Accounts that are past due will be charged a late fee and may result in water services being shut off. Contact City Hall in the case of extenuating circumstances and a payment plan may be an option.

DRINKING WATER:
Rates: $16 per month for the first 1000 gallons and $9 for each additional 1000 gallons for in-city residential customers. Contact City Hall for other pricing.

If you notice excessive usage, check for a toilet that continues to run, have your water softener checked, and look for water-logged areas in your yard.

SEWER (waste water):
Rate: $37.50 per month.

Do not flush any items other than toilet paper. Do not flush "flushable" wipes - they're really not! Wipe grease from dishes and cookware and dispose of in your trash before washing.

TRASH (solid waste):
Rates: $13.00 per month for residential customers. Contact City Hall for other pricing.

The City contracts with T-MAC Solid Waste from Columbia. Trash must be at the end of your driveway on Monday mornings by 6:00 am. Trash must be bagged and each bag weigh less than 50 pounds.  Do not include yard waste, tires, or hazardous materials.

There is a large item pick-up day each April. If you have large items during the year to be picked up, you may contact T-MAC and pay separately for the additional items.

Trash service will be on Tuesday when the following holidays are on a Monday: New Year's Day, MLK Jr. Birthday, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

RECYCLING:
Boonslick Industries provide recycling services for Prairie Home, located near the corner of Highway 87 and Main Street. Boonslick Industries provides jobs and job training for persons with disabilities. Please be considerate of those individuals and not deposit trash in any of the containers. If the containers are full, please be courteous and do not leave your items on the ground.

There are separate containers for cardboard and paper. Please break down your cardboard boxes. Do not include any cardboard with food remnants, such as pizza boxes.

There is a combined container for aluminum, plastic, and glass. Materials Accepted: #1 & #2 plastic bottles, aluminum cans, glass bottles, steel food cans. Materials Not Accepted: ABS plastics, aluminum or glass not identified above, electronic waste, guttering, household hazardous chemicals, plastic not identified above (including no plastic bags or film), siding/guttering/windows, steel, styrofoam of any kind.

MISSOURI 811:
Also known as Missouri One Call or Dig Rite. For digging projects big or small, you need to contact Missouri 811 at least 3 working days before you start digging to avoid hitting an underground utility line. It’s free, it’s simple and it’s the law. Failure to dig safely can result in costly damages and repairs, loss of essential utility services, and even serious injuries to you or your neighbors.
