Drinking Water Service Line Surveys
7/31/2024
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources, by federal regulation, is requiring all water service providers to conduct an inventory of drinking water service lines. The City’s “service line” is the pipe that brings drinking water from the City’s main line to the water meter in your yard. Your “service line” is the line that brings drinking water from the water meter into your home.
The purpose of this inventory is to identify if any lines are composed of lead or galvanized pipe, and to document the types of service line materials that are currently in use. In performing the inventory, the City needs to document information about every water service line, whether currently in use for drinking water or not.
Surveys are being sent out in batches by both email and regular mail. In some cases, owners or builders are being asked to complete multiple surveys.
The City appreciates everyone’s cooperation in this effort.
