Survey for Cooper County Hazard Mitigation Plan
2/5/2026
The Mid-Missouri Regional Planning Commission has begun the process of updating the Cooper County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. This is a five-year plan and includes municipalities, schools, fire districts, levy districts, etc.
Below is information from January 26, 2026 Introductory Meeting:
Mitigation planning happens before a natural disaster strikes. It results in safer, more resilient communities, reducing risks for the residents, businesses, and critical services in Cooper County.
Critical facilities provide essential services to the community before, during, and after a disaster. Community lifelines provide services that allow continuity of operations of critical business and government functions, and are crucial to health and safety of residents.
These plans were authorized by the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and requires a FEMA-approved plan to be eligible for pre-natural disaster mitigation funding.
Putting together the plan includes input from the County's communities. To take a quick public survey, or to view the current plan, please see www.midmorpc.org/hazard-mitigation
