Sidewalk Project Update

The City of Prairie Home was awarded a grant for a sidewalk project to improve pedestrian safety on the north side of Carey Street from Highway Drive (the school crosswalk) to Main Street and continuing from Main Street south to Lohse Drive.
The grant money for this project is divided over two years. The project is scheduled to be advertised for bids this fall and actual construction most likely will not take place until the spring of 2026.
Currently, the engineering plans are being reviewed by the Missouri Department of Transportation, which administers this type of project under the federal Transportation Alternatives Program, which can only be used on non-road projects.
The City will be contacting affected property owners in the near future.
