Dates for July 4th Fireworks

At their May 21st meeting, the Board of Adlermen passed Resolution No. 2026-02, A Resolution to Authorize the Possession and Discharge of Fireworks During the 2026 Independence Day Legal Holiday Season.
The text of the Resolution states:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Alderman of the City of Prairie Home, Missouri, as follows:
WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance No. 206, the sale, possession and discharge of fireworks within the City limits of the City of Prairie Home, Missouri are generally prohibited; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Aldermen are authorized, pursuant to Section 2(c) of said Ordinance No. 206 to permit by resolution certain exceptions to said general prohibition.
NOW, THEREFORE, let it be known as follows:
- In recognition of our country’s Independence Day celebrations, fireworks may be possessed and discharged on private property from Friday, July 3, 2026 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., provided that in no event shall a person discharge fireworks in a manner that endangers the health or safety of any other person, or in such a manner that any portion of the fireworks so discharged shall enter upon the private property of another or upon the streets or public property of the City.
- Notwithstanding the foregoing, the City reserves the right to repeal this Resolution No. 2026-01 at their discretion in the event that weather conditions are too dry during the above-mentioned timeframe, such that there is an increased risk of fire resulting from the discharge of fireworks. Such repeal by the City shall be made public by posting at City Hall.
